IT Network and Infrastructure Assistant BGSI at Indonesia |UNDP Paid Internship|

The IT Network and Infrastructure Assistant BGSI will have direct oversight of these activities. They will work closely with the project team, including BGSI, FMTA, and other projects within HEART related to Bio Informatic Biomedical & Genome Science Initiative. Their responsibilities include collaborating with operations units and program staff in the office to provide technical assistance and guidance on biomedical and genome science-related issues. Additionally, they will facilitate the exchange of information among stakeholders to ensure effective communication and coordination.

Scope of Work for IT Network and Infrastructure Assistant BGSI

  • Perform sequencing technology operations including IT systems integration and hybrid network infrastructure management.
  • Configure and maintain on-premises servers for optimal performance, security, and uptime of critical data generation processes.
  • Implement and maintain hybrid on-premises and cloud infrastructure solutions, focusing on AWS and GCP.
  • Administer cloud servers and manage cloud infrastructure, emphasizing AWS and GCP environments.
  • Manage containerization and orchestration tools like Docker and Kubernetes for efficient deployment and scaling.
  • Handle networking components such as routers, switches, firewalls, and network cabling for a stable and secure environment.
  • Provide initial diagnosis and resolution of hardware, software, and network-related issues to minimize downtime.
  • Monitor server and network performance, identify areas for improvement, and implement proactive measures.
  • Update server software, firmware, and networking equipment regularly for security patches and enhancements.
  • Maintain detailed documentation of IT systems, configurations, and procedures for effective knowledge sharing and troubleshooting.

Perform any other duties within the functional profile as necessary for the efficient functioning of the Office and the Organization.

Eligibility requirements

  1. Minimum Academic Education:
    • Secondary education with formal training in IT systems, business software, and/or web-based applications.
    • Certifications in ITIL/hardware/software management/application and/or MCP are an asset.
    • University Degree (Bachelor’s degree) in computer science, information technology, engineering, or equivalent field will be given due consideration, but it is not a requirement.
  2. Minimum years of relevant Work experience:
    • A minimum of 5 years (with Secondary education) or 2 years (with bachelor’s degree) of progressively responsible project experience is required.
  3. Required skills and competencies:
    • Solid knowledge and practical experience in assisting project implementation.
    • Strong interpersonal skills, communication, and ability to work in a team.
    • Strong report writing skills.
    • Solid networking capacity.
  4. Desired additional skills and competencies:
    • Experience in Database Administrator/Mail Server Administrator/Network Administrator/Network Monitoring/IT Security.
    • Experience includes IT security operations and management (e.g., vulnerability management/ IT security incident response management).
    • Experience handling server infrastructure, including hardware, operating systems (Windows Server, Linux), virtualization (VMware, Hyper-V), and cloud (AWS / GCP).
    • Experience working with different operating systems, such as Windows, macOS, Linux, etc.
    • Experience includes Cloud Infrastructure Management using AWS/ GCP/ VMWare/ ESXi.
    • Experience and basic understanding of local area networks (LANs), wide area networks (WANs), routers, switches, and IP addressing.
    • Experience includes management of diverse databases using SQL databases (e.g., MySQL or PostgreSQL) and NoSQL database (e.g., MongoDB).
    • Experience includes configuration and management of routers, switches, and firewalls using Fortinet/ Cisco ASA/ Mikrotik/ VLAN/ VPN.
    • Experience includes Network Monitoring using Nagios/ Cacti/ PRTG/ Munin.
  5. Required Language(s) (at working level):
    • Fluency in English and Bahasa Indonesia is required.
